State Senator Amanda Chase represents the 11th Senate District of Virginia, which includes Amelia County and part of Chesterfield county, west and south of Richmond. According to the Virginia State Police, there were 82 reported rapes in those counties in 2018.
Accoding to the Senator, those rapes were all pretty much the victims' faults.
This is part of an exchange that was displayed on the Senator's Facebook page on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, until she took it down (grabbed by sharp-eyed constituent Suzanne Nadeau.)
“It’s those who are naive and unprepared that end of [sic] raped.”
Speaks volumes. And yes, in case you were wondering, she does indeed belong to the party of Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh. She has tried to tame the blowback with an incredibly disingenuous Facebook post in which she frankly lies about what the said in the original post. In other news, she opposes the ERA, strongly favors forced-childbirth policies, opposes any regulation of firearms, and characterizes the upcoming election as a stuggle between Good and Evil.
(By the way, the whole thing comes from a discussion of how it’s supposedly irresponsible to go jogging without a loaded firearm. Isn’t that… at the very least… uncomfortable?)
She is being challenged by Amanda Pohl, a Democrat who assigns blame for rape to RAPISTS rather than their victims, and who could use any extra support you can provide:
